geological museum & computer centre

Indian School of Mines has a state of the art computer centre located in the heart of the main building (under the Geological museum).

It has 30 computers and it is host of servers. It is the central unit managing the campus networking and connection of the campus with outside world that is - Internet.

It is equipped with Sun Sparc Station 20, which is acting as Unix server to the campus network. Also, there is Sun Sparc Station 60 available, which is typically used as language compiler for academic practicals.

There is Mail Server of Netfinity 3000 based on IBM platform. Another server of same configuaration is also being utilized as DNS server.

ISM Computer Center staff is working hard to maintain an uninterruptible Internet Connection for 14 hours a day and 5 days a week. There is a proxy server of HP E-60 for this purpose.

For student practicals, a separate TERMINALS room is provided, which has a capacity for 15 students.

ISM Computer Center is the heart of all computer activities in the campus.
